Passwords

To change your default password within the SoftNAS UI itself is a simple task. Under the Storage Administration panel, expand Settings, and select Change Passwords.

In the Change Passwords applet, select the user for which you want the password changed. For this example we are selecting softnas, as it is (along with root) one of the recommended defaults to change.

Enter the desired password, and confirm it. If the password change is being performed for a client - ie, allowing the client to select his/her own password, check the box stating 'Force user to change password at next login?'.

Note: If this is a VMware (on-premise) instance, your default passwords can be changed from within the VMware VM console. Instructions for configuring network connections and new default passwords can be found in Customizing your System.

Licensing

UltraFast™, like the other features of SoftNAS Cloud's Platinum Beta, is built into the SoftNAS Cloud image, and unlocked via license key.  In other words, (after the beta offering expires) you will need to apply a valid d-Sphere license to enjoy the benefits of UltraFast™. To obtain the license key, you will need to contact SoftNAS Sales via sales@softnas.com or register on our website via our Contact Us page.

To apply your license, follow the directions found in the link below:
